First, you need to question your reasons or motives for wanting him back in the first place. You need to slow down and really think about why you and your ex broke-up.

Was it something that you did, he did, or was it consensual?  Did the two of you grow apart, or are you (or both of you) too immature to handle a relationship? Were his or your actions something that most would think unforgivable, and would those that love you support your getting back together or would they think you're crazy?

These are important questions that need to be answered before making any moves to get your ex back. Journal your thoughts and discuss them with a trusted friend or relationship counselor, if needed, and then when you have come to educated conclusions, you can make the decision to move forward with him or not.

Why Did You Break-Up?

If your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend gave you reasons for the break-up-like you have no motivation, no job, you don't care for yourself, you have no interests, or you're just flat-out annoying at times-these are things you can change within yourself for the better.

Here's the key though, make the changes for yourself and not for him or anyone else. And if you are the reason the break up occurred, then you have to be prepared to make some changes if you want the relationship to last into the future.

Should You Fix Yourself Before Getting Back With Your Ex?

For example, getting a job is as easy as looking in the paper or on the Internet for possibilities that lead to interviews. Maybe you should decide to go back to school to further your education and get a degree. These simple things make you a more appealing person in general, and something you should have done long ago. Join a gym or go on a diet if you've neglected yourself physically for some time. This is to improve your health-not to impress him. Not only will you look and feel better, others will take notice and get the word back to your ex.

Remember - improvements to yourself not only make you feel better about yourself but improves the chances that you and your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend will make up.

Now, if you're a moody, negative person, it may all lead back to your hormone levels. Visit your doctor, tell him what's going on, and ask to have your hormone levels checked. It's a simple blood test that tells all kinds of things.

You could have a thyroid problem that affects your moods or simply PMS that is so bad you have no control over it. However, this may not be the answer to your problem-you may simply just be depressed, which in turn, causes you to be moody.

A more unfortunate reason for your moodiness is that it is just part of your personality. You may not think you're coming off as nagging, but it is how others perceive it. And it's terrible for someone to say they're leaving you because you are "difficult." Then it's all on you to take steps in being more aware of your moods and how you are perceived by others.

Now if you are still asking yourself if you should get my ex back, make sure you feel good about yourself before you take the next step.
